“We are pleased that the Ötztal valley can also host the adidas Sickline World Championship in 2010”, says tourism director Oliver Schwarz. “Among insiders the Ötztal has been known for many years as one of Europe’s most beautiful kayak ground. With its glacier rivers the Ötztal offers whitewater in all facets between May and October and here, depending on the water level of Rofen-, Venter- and Ötztaler Ache River, kayakers of all classes can find their personal challenge.“

Sensations and thrills galore: those high on adrenaline and in search of that very special kick find just what they want in the adventure playground Tirol.
Rugged rock faces, imposing mountains that are made to climb; rivers, roaring or meandering, winding through the valleys and inviting you to kayaking, canoeing, rafting and canyoning. Steep slopes, narrow paths and entirely new routes to be discovered on a mountain bike. Upwinds that simply carry paragliders away, letting them soar through the Tirolean heavens, as majestically as an eagle – Tirol is just made for the adventure experience, for testing one's own limits.
"Tirol is a real eldorado for outdoor lovers, the unique mountain countryside forms the perfect arena for activities on the mountains, in the rocks, in the water or in the air. Whole Tirol thus becomes an adventure land. That is obvious at numerous events such as the adidas Sickline Kayak World Championships", as Josef Margreiter, Tirol Tourist Board managing director, remarks with enthusiasm.
Water, earth, air and - mountains
Playing with the elements and dancing with the mountains – that's what Tirol does perfectly. No wonder that action fans find amenities galore here.
For climbing enthusiasts Tirol is paradise, the land in the mountains is one unique climbing arena for all demands. 15 Tirolean regions have joined to form a climbers' paradise, providing everything that the climbing heart desires.
Venues of the first water are to be found on Tirol's rivers. The programme includes rafting and canyoning with abseiling, jumping, sliding and diving. In less turbulent waters a canoeing or kayaking trip is none the less exciting.
The dream of flying becomes reality in Tirol: parachutes, paragliders, hang gliders and bungee ropes enable sportspeople to take off, to float, to jump and to return safely back to earth. Outdoor fans can also show their prowess at high wire venues throughout Tirol.
Fast and furious, that's what the downhill fans are, the freeriders, the cross-country bikers who plunge down any route. And in Tirol they can find customized challenges: there are 29 marked single trails and a total of more than 5,000 mountain bike routes of all grades await cycling fans in Tirol.
In addition to the exciting amenities for water rats, climbers, bikers and flyers Tirol is providing a new attraction as from this summer: the Area 47. This adventure park at the entrance to the Ötztal brings practically all these trend sports together in one spot, thus representing the adventure land Tirol in a concentrated form.
